A Service of Thanksgiving for the life and work of The Rt Hon Dame Cheryl Gillan will be held in St Margaret's Church, Westminster Abbey on Monday 29th November 2021 at Noon.

The Rt Hon Dame Cheryl Gillan served as an MP in the Buckinghamshire seat of Chesham and Amersham for 29 years, and occupied roles in the department for Education and Employment, in the Whips' Office and in Trade and Industry before rising to become Secretary of State for Wales in 2010.

Aside from her work in Parliament, Dame Cheryl was an enthusiastic member of the Parliamentary choir. She was very proud of her welsh roots and had interests in gardening, and golf.

Admission to the service is possible by applying here for online tickets. If you would like to attend, click on REGISTER above. Please choose from one of the three categories : Family, Parliamentary Colleagues and Friends and book for the number of tickets you would like, entering the details you need to, then click on REGISTER. You have to just give your name and email address to do that.

A link to your ticket(s) will be sent to the email address you have provided. Please print out each ticket and bring the ticket(s) with you to the service. The Abbey does not share any data you leave with third parties.

Please note for security reasons, there will be a bag search before entering the church. You should also be aware that the nearest toilet facilities are located in the Abbey Cloisters or at Westminster Central Hall.

Members of the congregation are requested to be seated by 11.45 am.

What are my transport/parking options getting to the event? Public transport is advised. The nearest underground stations are Westminster and St James' Park.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket(s) to the event? Yes, please bring tickets for each person attending.

What time do the doors open? 11.20 am.

What Covid preparations have been made in the Church : We provide sanitizer gel at the entrance and the wearing of face masks is optional. The seating capacity in the church can allow for social distancing.

How long will the Service last? The Service will last an hour.

What if I have special needs? The church has easy ramped access for those in wheelchairs or with walking aids. Please contact Matthew Arnoldi by email special.events@westminster-abbey.org so we can assist you. Parking is also possible for those with special needs.
